Cool, the problem with themes always getting downloaded is fixed!, that's a quick turnaround. Perhaps the Userland folks could go and talk to Apple developer support, I'm still waiting for a reply to my URLAccess question I sent them earlier in the week [come back PSS, all is forgiven!]
I see Keith still has that funky random background color thing going, now if he'd just add an RSS feed ....

Finally stopped procrastinating and got back to working on PocketSOAP, currently adding support for compression to the HTTP stack.
I had YATT running to trace some SOAP stuff, and noticed a bunch of stuff Radio was pulling down, turns out it downloads all the themes every hour, that's 900k of themes every hour, ouch. You can turn it off, but the only options seem to be off or every hour. Given the ammount of HTTP stuff that Radio does, I really wish it used etags and last-modified where possible.

Just tested DIME Interop between PocketSOAP and the MS WSDK, looks good so far. Can we expect to see a DIME Interop endpoint for the WSDK (and Axis for that matter) ?
Jeremy Zawodny and Nathan Torkington both have interesting observations on [T]iBooks. I'm trying to resist ranting about the state of development tools for OS 9, which is just diabolical, it reminds me of doing Windows 3.0 developement!. I spent all afternoon tracking down some co-operative threading issues in our OS 9 port, all very 1990's, I'll be happy when we can get back to the OS X version.

1. Are you happy/unhappy with the audio quality of standard audio CDs?
I'm happy with the quality of well mastered, well engineered CD's, but there's still a lot of poorly engineered CD's released, increasing sampling rates, adding bits isn't going to magically improve that.
2. Have you heard about Super Audio CD or DVD-Audio? Do you have a preference?
Yes I've heard, I have a slight leaning towards SACD, but given the hi-fi industries obbsession with home cinema, I'm expecting DVD-A to be more popular than SACD.
3. Do you think high-resolution multi-channel digital audio is important enough to warrant buying new discs and a new player?
What would i do with my existing large CD collection ?, would a new multi-channel player be able to play standard CD's as well as my existing CD player, or would i need 2 players ?
4. Do you think high-resolution stereo digital audio is important enough to warrant buying new discs and a new player?
Not yet, I'm currently toying with the idea of upgrading from my Genki to an Ikemi
5. Do you own a player that can play SACD or DVD-A discs in their high resolution format?
Nope, although the Genki supports HDCD, which seems to have flopped, I haven't heard much about it recently.

PocketSOAP 1.3.7 just released, contains a couple of HTTP transport bug fixes.
Picked up the long awaited new Future Sound of London CD today, Its completely and utterly different to anything they've done in the past, even "techno, heck no" Kelley would like it!.

DJ talks about USB drivers on 98 and Linux. My current project involves a USB device, and the whole driver install/management is a complete nightmare, particularly on 98 and ME, the whole thing is completely hit and miss and documentation is non-existant. At least on W2K and XP there's something of a install/update API for the drivers, that lets you cope better with pre-installing USB device drivers, and/or updating drivers if the device was plugged in before the software install. But there are still holes in the system, in particular the update driver API requires the device to be plugged in for it to work, otherwise it thinks the device doesn't exist and leaves the old driver installed. To top it off, XP adds the "end of the world unsigned driver" dialog boxes, if you attempt to install an unsigned driver. It remains to be seen if Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X is any better.

[dotNetGuy]: Microsoft is trying to slip by a EULA requirement in W2K SP3 and WXP SP1 that grants them administrative priviledges on your machine. I'm pro-Microsoft, but this kind of underhanded crap has got to stop somewhere. I don't care what the stated reason is. There's no way I'm going to let them do that to my boxes. And don't even get me started on Palladium. How much is too much? Personally, I'm getting there. Quickly.
Totally agree, this is getting a bit nuts. [The Furrygoat Experience] Yup, seems to be getting out of hand, Its this sort of crap that has me looking at OS X, Debian and anything else that might be an alternative. I was already pissed at having to shell out extra to record to MP3's in WMP [on top of a $300 O.S.], especially given that a full copy of OSX is cheaper than a W2k Pro -> XP Pro upgrade, and iTunes puts WMP to shame big time. On the other hand Apple don't seem to get developer support like MSFT does, the MSDN library is in a league of its own compared to what Apple or Metrowerks ship for Apple development.
